There was never really a time when I knew I wanted to be an engineer: I just kind of drifted into it. But I certainly don’t regret it. My job is a lot of fun because it’s very varied – I never know what I’m going to be doing next. And as an engineer you get a lot of respect: people respect you because you have special knowledge and expertise, and so they value your opinion.

I always wanted to be an engineer, from helping my father fix cars as a kid to being fascinated with cars, planes, boats etc. I always wanted to be working with technology. If you are interested in how things work, and want to make things better then engineering is for you.

I am so happy i became an engineer, it was a passion of mine my whole life so im very happy its now my job. Despite complaining about my job when im late for a deadline and working all night or travel 10 hours each way for a 2 hour meeting, i have never once regretted my decision to do engineering.

No I never regret it! I often wonder about what else I might have done, or where else I might have ended up in life, but I’m always proud to be an engineer. I never really decided I wanted to be an engineer, I just followed the subjects I liked & this led me to engineering in the end. And engineering is such a broad degree there are lots of different careers it can lead you to.
