• Question: how many poins do you need to get in your leaving cert to be an engineere

      It varies a bit from one college to another and from year to year. In Trinity I think it was about 470 this year (you can look it up on our website to be sure).

      In my year Mechanical Engineering in UL was 400 points, it depends how popular the course it (not how difficult it is). Dont get too bogged down on the points though – there are always ways to get to the course you want, even if you don’t get the points. If you do like the subject there’s always options to get into an engineering career.

      It depends on where you study, but generally anything from 300 points and upwards can get to into some engineering course. Check college websites for the real points required.

      It depends on the college, in my university it’s around 300 points
