      The short answer is that nobody knows.
      We know that everything attracts everything else, so a really big mass like the Earth will attract a smaller mass (like you). But so far we don’t know why that happens. That’s one of the questions that they might answer by using the Large Hadron Collider in CERN.
      Did you read about that spacecraft that they landed on the comet? They had problems because gravity is so small on the comet that it bounced around a lot.
